Because not getting cold feet is a must for Quebec comfort in winter...!
These thermal alpaca socks are our thickest and, therefore, those that will have the greatest impact for the excess heat and moisture absorption from your feet.
For narrower boots, I recommend slightly thinner thermal socks or our hiking socks, which are our thinnest thermals. You don't have to be too tight in your boots because blood circulation plays a vital role in the warmth and comfort of your feet. The circulation heats the foot while the alpaca keeps the heat.
If you like the comfort of the house, the Alpaca socks are very nice, even under a blanket; they breathe well, so nice to wear even in warmer places. Some of our customers wear alpaca thermal socks even in the summer!
It is also possible to use them at any time outside, even for sports.
Many people are skeptical of the idea of wearing alpaca socks in conditions where they may be hot or sweaty. But contrary to what one might think, they remain very pleasant because the alpaca absorbs a large part of moisture without the feeling of the moist effects. In addition, they breathe well, so the feet remain more easily dry during physical activity.
How can it absorb so much moisture? The small, very thin terry wolves inside the socks allow them to absorb more moisture by having a larger surface of alpaca thread touching the skin unlike than a regular knit. The composition, the alpaca, absorb enormously.
Why aren't they 100% alpaca? Because to be more durable, they must have enough to strengthen them (like nylon) and add elasticity to them (like spandex).
The Alpaca thermal socks are one of the most popular products with the felted insoles. They are machine-washable in cold water (ideally in a washing bag) and dry flat at room temperature. If they are well spin, they dry overnight in conditions of normal air humidity. Under these conditions, they should not shrink.
In no case should the alpaca stock be put in the dryer, which would have the effect of making them felt. In this case they will shrink and will also be less elastic. A start of felting may also make them more likely to have a subsequent wash. Once they are felt, it is impossible to go back.
